Last week Austroads published new report on “Safety Benefits of Cooperative ITS and Automated Driving in Australia and New Zealand”.
In this Report there are different facts that C-ITS can reduce road accidents and fatalities. But for such an effect, there should be some conditions like:
- the level of digital infrastructure required for them to operate as predicted
- The ready availability of high accuracy positioning
- low latency communications and the necessary interoperability between devices
In this report, it is mentioned that V2V technologies are becoming so important in road safety and transportation management.
Some numbers shows the effect of the automated driving applications like Automated Emergency Braking (AEB). These technologies help driver to manage different situation while driving and reduce the probability of being involve in a crash.
